March 2014

(review from HomeAway)

The descriptions and pictures were accurate, but you won’t know how great this house/beach is until you stay there! The house and grounds are very clean and neat and the beach is just gorgeous!! The beds were made up according to our needs as we were getting in very late the first night and we really appreciated that. There was wine in the refrigerator and coffee ready for morning. Boogie boards and snorkeling gear came in VERY handy and was much better having it there instead of renting in town. Foodland is nearby as are some of the most amazing surfing beaches on the island. The north shore vibe is very relaxed and the weather is excellent. We also stayed part of our trip in Ko Olina, which is beautiful, but found ourselves driving back up to the north shore a few times for the food, beaches and relaxing atmosphere. I wish we would have booked this house for our full trip as the teenagers LOVED the house and this beach. I can’t recommend this highly enough!! We hope to be back next year?

February - March 2014

Thank you for the use of your house. The view here is absolutely wonderful. The waves put on quite a show while here. Enjoyed all the extras you provide. Hate to go home to our rain. You certainly have a wonderful selection of good books! We also saw monk seals, turtles and whales here at Hale Moana!

February 2014

We had a wonderful 1st Anniversary trip. We experienced so many wonderful firsts. Hawaiian sunsets, surfing, jet skiing, turtle watching and swimming with them : )  The whales jumped and played right in front of the house this morning making it a perfect ending to our perfect trip.

Thank you so much - Angie & Geoff - Elmira, Ontario, Canada

January 2014

Many thanks for a wonderful stay. Everything we needed for a lovely relaxing end to our holiday. Pipeline even turned on the waves for us! We hope to see your lovely home and the beautiful north shore again someday.

Warm Regards - Jocelyn, Mark, Bradley, Amelia & Sienna - Sydney, Australia

January 2014

We've had such a lovely time at Hale Moana. We hate to leave. Nate and Ben loved seeing sea turtles, and we all enjoyed the historic waves! The view is breathtaking, and falling asleep to the sound of the surf was perfect. Your home had everything we needed. We hope to come back some day.

Mahalo,

Lauren, Brian, Nate (2), Ben (2) - Washington, DC

January 2014

What a great place! Surf, sun and even turtles straight outside. What more could you ask for? A perfect place to get away from it all. Thanks for the coffee and wine. Most appreciated.

December 2013

Thank you for sharing your spectacular home setting with us! We all enjoyed every minute of our time here - staring at the waves, soaking up the sounds, breathing the air - everything. We appreciate the gift of wine and coffee, too. We are all sad to leave and hope we can return someday. It is a perfect getaway to celebrate our anniversaries - 40 and 43 years! We will always remember our lovely time here on the North Shore at Hale Moana.

November 2013

What a nice and warm welcome! The card, coffee and delicious wine started our vacation right away. We were speechless by the location of your home. The spectacular view of the ocean and incredible sunsets makes it hard for us to leave... Looks like we need to come back for more!

Thank you so very much - Eric & Dani - La Selva Beach, California

November 2013

What a beautiful view!! We loved every moment & experience as we enjoyed our little Honeymoon House by the Sea! Everything we could ever want was right here and ready for us. We really enjoyed trying out the surfboards and boogie boards. Even when it rained, we still had an amazing view of the storm.

Thanks again for everything!

Love, Chris and Amanda, Dallas Texas

October 2013

We enjoyed staying in your house on the North Shore so much. Everyone is still raving about it! We'll definitely be back sometime soon.

October 2013

Amazing!! My family of five just returned from a week at this beautiful home and it can only be described as - amazing. My husband was born and raised in Hawaii and the first night was completely overwhelming for him due to the sound of the waves reminding him of his childhood. My 3 little ones literally lived on the beach and begged (which we obliged) to go to the beach each morning and afternoon. Due to the location, the beach is practically secluded - we literally had the beach all to ourselves - unheard of in Hawaii (especially Haleiwa). The home had all the amenities you would need: in the TV room (cable and lots of recent and nostalgic Dvds), in the kitchen (every utensil and appliance you would need for any occasion...we were able to find a rice cooker!!), in the family rooms (your own personal library), too much to list...but just know if you think it, they have it...oh yeah and there's a Dyson just in case you're an OCD mother like me!

October 2013

We loved it here! A perfect spot. Once we got here Jill didn’t want to go anywhere else - luckily we already had 7 days of sightseeing already under our belts. We hope to come back one day.

September 2013

Thank you so much for having mom and I here at your beautiful house. The view is like nothing that I have ever seen. Thank you for showing us around Hawaii and bringing us to the temple and the koi pond (my favorite!) I enjoyed getting to spend time with you and Glen. I hope that you are able to come to Connecticut and visit with us. Again thank you for everything including dinner and letting us eat pie for breakfast. I’ll alway remember Hawaii and your friendship. Until next time.

Love, Robin and Sara - Simsbury, CT

September 2013

As perfect as I remembered. Thank you for the wonderful welcome here. Lovely! We never strayed too far from this personal paradise and why should we - everything we could ever want is here. A healing space to recharge and calm and reconnect. I don’t think I can ever visit this island any other way. A healing place. Richard, Ciella and Milo agree we must not let so much time lapse before our next adventure here. Mahalo!

Love, Catherine - Carpinteria, CA

September 2013

We’ve had another wonderful stay at your great beach house, Hale Moana. We really enjoyed this stay. It brought back wonderful memories of our last stay 20 years ago. We did notice that we weren’t as nimble in the surf as we were way back in ’92. We did laugh a lot at ourselves. Thanks... Mahalo, for your hospitality and making Hale Moana, available to us.

Bill & Rose - St. Louis, Missouri

P.S. Paul & Nadine also enjoyed their stay as well. This week was an anniversary (35 years) and our 45th anniversary for Rose and me. I couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate.

August - September 2013

Sandi - You are our kind of gal - good fiction and sharp knives. House is comfy and grows on you. After a week, we feel too much at home. This place was perfect for our surfer and our toddler and our lookers - a panoply of surfers, outriggers, paddle boarders, fishermen (no women), walkers, snorkelers, sailors passed the “big screen” you call Leftovers. Followed all the recs of earlier guests - ate the famous pie, snorkeled Sharks, swam at Waimea, enjoyed good coffee at Coffee Gallery, got fresh fish at the farmers’ markets, watched “Cars” four times with the 4 year old. Great holiday - will be singing your praises.

Suzanne & Ross - Santa Barbara, Suzie - Fairfax, California; Sean & Col - Taos, New Mexico

PS - We slept in den - we were surprised how comfortable the fold out is!

ugust 2013

Deb, Nicole and Michele had a fabulous time in your home. We came for a wedding which was on the point to our right. It was beautiful. We also checked off SKYDIVING from our bucket lists and also swam naked in the ocean! AMAZING TIME! The house is perfect. Thank you so much for your hospitality - Going home tomorrow but the memories can never be taken! Thanks so much!

Michel, Deb and Nicole - Oregon City, Oregon

August 2013

What a beautiful home and incredible location! We were blown away by the amazing view and beach access. We had a very busy week that included snorkeling with countless fish and turtle, swimming with dolphins, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, our first attempts at scuba and 2 shark encounters! It was wonderful to have a cozy home to come back to at the end of our long days and the gorgeous ocean sound to fall asleep to at night. We will never forget this beautiful vacation and hope to return as soon as possible!

Aloha and Mahalo! - Emily  (Matt, Lisa and Shannon, as well) - Manhattan Beach, California

August 2013

Day 1 - We are back!!! Today was a fairly easy day where we relaxed and checked out the reef. We also had the pleasure to go to Ted’s bakery because it truly has the best pies. We actually got to see 4 cuddle fish, an octopus, an eel and a turtle just outside the house! 2 - We again explored the reef this morning and found conch snail, eel, and nudibranch. Then we went to Shark’s Cove and saw lots of beautiful fish, then went to Cholo’s (like we always do). 3 - We went to Sunset beach and snorkeled for a while and it was very good snorkeling... then we went to Matsumoto’s and had delicious shaved ice. 4 - We went to Waimea and snorkeled to the left of the jumping rock. The rest of the day we swam in the back yard. 5 - We went to 3 Tables to snorkel and saw many eels, cuddlefish, and parrotfish. 6 - Went to Shark’s Cove and had a blast! Then went to Cholo’s for dinner. 7 - We played in the backyard with the turtles and on Alligator Rock. 8 & 9 - Both days we went to 3 Tables and played in the backyard.

10 = Our last full day :(  We went to Shark’s Cove and had Ted’s for lunch. We are all sad to leave this beautiful home.

Thank you/ Mahalo -  Ruby (age 14)

with Sam, Alicia, Lily - Manhattan Beach, California

July - August 2013

What a breathtaking view! We had such a lovely time. We lived on Oahu many years ago, and it was such a treat to introduce our children to the wonders of the island. They were amazed by the fish the sea turtles... even the shrimp vans and shave ice.

Thank you! Thank you!

Gary and family - Mapleton, Utah

July 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hale Moana. The views were incredible and the sound of the ocean was great. The first thing Logan (my two year old son) said when we got there was, "wow, me like this house".  He had fun looking for lizards and "cheep cheeps" and we all had a blast eating all our meals outside, playing on the beach, and spending quality time together. All of the beaches nearby were rocky but very fun to swim at - saw many sea turtles!! Thanks for everything!!

Alan, Kylee, Logan, Cody, Travis & Bonnie - Moorhead, Minnesota

July 2013

When I stayed here five years ago with my friends to see the surfing finals at Pipeline, I thought how great it would be to bring my family to experience this wonderful place. I can tell you it’s been just as imagined, and we’ve had the greatest time? We’ve snorkeled with sea turtles, had a great time strolling the town of Haleiwa, saw beautiful Waimea Falls, visited Pearl Harbor, rode ATVs at the Kualoa Ranch (not knowing we’d see Godzilla’s footprints!) and tried our hand at paddle boarding. But the best is just relaxing here at Hale Moana. My wife ‘Ann’, daughter ‘Liz’ (22), son ‘Harry’ (17) & I all thank you for letting us share your wonderful home. As I mentioned to you through our emails this was a special vacation to celebrate Liz’s graduation from your Alma Mater (Cal Berkeley). It couldn’t have been better!

Mahalo & God Bless

Michael, Anne, Liz & Harry - Fullerton, California

July 2013

We had a great time rediscovering the north shore with our kids after 15 years of being away! Our daughter, Emma, was 2 when we left and can now place names with places and experiences now that she has come back to where she was born. Emma and Jake (12) really had a great time as did we. We found snorkeling with turtles just behind the house to be an unexpected treat.

Peter, Kelly, Emma and Jake - Ellicott City, Maryland

June 2013

We had a very nice stay at your beach house. What lovely sunset views! We loved it!

Christine and Tim - Mililani, Hawaii

June 2013

Just wanted to say how much we loved coming back to your beach house. It was so reassuring to know that we would instantly be as comfortable as we were at the end of our last visit. Since the waves were calmer (though we had a few days of unseasonably high surf) we got lots of swimming in. It was hotter, too, so I used the second bedroom to get ready for my son's rehearsal dinner and wedding. On the other days, if we weren't exploring the island, we just sat outside in the shade and enjoyed the ocean breezes.

Thank you so much for making our second trip to Oahu as special as the first!

Elaine and Michael - Littleton, Colorado

May/June 2013

This is our 3rd trip here at the house and we just can’t believe all the beauty - everyday brings something different. It was nice to have a short visit with you and Glenn during our stay. Mike & I feel like this is our home away from home with spectacular views, sunsets, turtles and the beach. We truly love it here. We thank you for sharing your paradise with us yet again. Can’t wait to come back a fourth time.

Much Love - Mike & Sherri - Alta Loma, California

PS - It was really cool to see the house from the Power Hang Glider.

May 2013

As soon as we walked through the door it was like being in paradise. Fantastic views and sunsets plus turtle watching. We had two evening BBQ's because why would you want to go anywhere else! Sorry to be moving on today but having come so far we have to see all the island sights. Thanks for the card, coffee & wine. Nigel will remember his 60th!!

Nigel, Carole, Gill and Nigel  -  Poole, Dorset, England

May 2013

We had a wonderful time at Hale Moana! Enjoyed our walks on the beach, seeing sea turtles, snorkeling, and surfing! We made several day trips to other parts of the island and it always felt wonderful to come back to our more secluded private spot away from the other tourists. We will always remember our relaxing vacation we spent here, and will hope to return. You thought of everything we needed and then some! We hope to return!

Mark, Rebecca, Ryan and Laura - Spokane, Washington

p.s. We enjoyed the coffee & wine! thank you!!

May 2013

How does one describe paradise? Surely it is the North Shore of Hawaii (Oahu) & the location of this house. Our trip highlights included seeing whales, watching the sea turtles, listening to & watching the surf, walking along the beach, snorkeling, day trips around the island & chocolate haupia pie from Ted's! Your house was perfect. We wouldn't trade one second of our time here for any amount of resort amenities. Your home truly has it all. We spent 5 romantic days as a couple, then 5 days with our best friends here. Wine, sunsets, card games, delicious food, long walks on the beach, coffee on the lawn. We are sad to say goodbye but hope to return again. Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo!

Vernon & Tami - Chandler, Arizona

April 2013

March 2013

Loved our time in Hale Moana, nothing beats this view. We didn’t feel the need to do much other than relaxing in the sun, enjoying our surroundings. Seeing breaching whales was a highlight. The only downside is that our time here was too short. Next time we will have to come for at least a week!

Kayla, Stephanie, Amy, Jean - Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada

March 2013

Amazing time! The waves were awesome to watch. Swimming to the right of the house was great when the sea was rough. An experience we’ll never forget.

Happy New Year and best of wishes to the future “residents” of Hale Moana for much aloha and happy times. Mahalo Sandi, Ann and Kevan - U.K.

December 2012

Mahalo Nui Loa! This place has it all. So nice to open everything up and feel the breeze. Everything is here that you need. The gifts were so thoughtful. We moved two chairs and little round table onto the lanai so we could sit outside when it rained – which was quite a bit :)

Saw many rainbows, flying fish, surfers & shooting stars from the yard. Pipeline Masters was fun to watch. Traffic in front of the house was not as bad as I thought it would be...easy  to turn left out of the house. Sad to leave it :(

Susan & Peter (25th Wedding Anniversary) - Maple Ridge, BC, Canada

December 2012

Dear Sandi and Glenn,

What does this make it? Six, seven stays? Hale Moana is as magic as it was that first time

and as magic as it will be when we return...

Nothing equals the North Shore...and nothing is more comfortable or homey than Hale Moana.

Thanks for all the great stays in your great house.

Aloha, Richard, Vivid, Dylan and Erin - Abu Dhabi UAE, Florida, Los Angeles CA

Regan, Karl and Chris - Huntington Beach, California

November 2012

My family and I enjoyed our stay so very much! What a wonderful ringside view of the world famous winter North Shore waves. We loved being right "on" the sea, hearing the waves and watching the sunset (not to mention the very impressive surfers!) You've thought of everything for your guests, from an abundance of clothes hangers to the BBQ setup. Only thing missing is a real live Golden Retriever : )

Thank you - Mahalo!

Kit, Nancy, Lorraine, Marvin - Seattle, Washington

October - November 2012

September 2012

We had a wonderful time on the beautiful North Shore. We loved watching the surfers and looking at all the turtles. And the sunsets were absolutely gorgeous.

Vicki, Kenneth & Dorothy - Littleton, Colorado

September 2012

Everyone enjoyed their time here, an excellent location for a retreat - we barbecued and swam and weaved lauhala
mats - our meeting time went so smoothly. I know this calm, restful place made our “working time” easier. I kept getting hugged and thanked over and over for bringing them here to Hale Moana. Much Aloha for this place and your malama in providing such a rejuvenating “hale” for this hardworking group of women.

A’hui hou Kakou (until we meet again).

Nalani and friends - Wai’anae, Hawaii

August-September 2012

Turtles everywhere! Great!

Thanks for the wine and coffee. Enjoyed our stay immensely!

Toby, Bill, Kendra, Wesley and Joyce

August 2012

We had a grand time here in your home, Sandi, with all your thoughtful touches - comfy chairs, coffee, wine, books - but it’s the view and the sea that tops everything. The jade green and blue, the sounds, the tang of salt - recipes for serenity.  Thank you, Rosemarie

Spending time and celebrating with my sister Sandi, Glenn and Rosemarie made my 60th birthday a lot less traumatic. I enjoyed the peacefulness of this beachside home. Thank you for this memorable event in my life. I am going home re-energized and filled with inspiration for the life to come.

Love, Patti - Clipper Mills, California

July-August 2012

Our second time back to Hale Moana and it’s as wonderful as the first. Your home is so comfortable and the perfect place/location to all the north shore fun – Waimea, Happy Trails for horseback riding, Haleiwa and the Shrimp Trucks in Kahuku too!! We enjoyed the green sea turtles, snorkeling and shell hunts right on this fabulous beach too, but the view from the home is the best part.

Thank you, Kevin, Trish, Chloe and Abby - San Francisco, California

July 2012

We had a wonderful time here! The huge amount of turtles at lost beach were fabulous to snorkel with! We loved shark’s cove! Haleiwa was great for food, shopping & shave ice at Matsumoto’s!

Loved this view and hunting sea glass everyday! :)

Stephani, Eric, Chase, Jordan, and Kate - Mill Creek, Washington

July 2012

The highlights of our trip were seeing over 50 sea turtles at Police Beach where they filmed “Lost”. We also enjoyed hours of fun playing cards while staring at the ocean. Almost for anyone visiting the North Shore a trip to Ted’s Bakery to get the Macadamia Nut Cream Pie.

George, Gina, George (6), Christina (9). - Fair Haven, New Jersey

June - July 2012

As soon as we opened the front door to your home, we were welcomed with a stunning oceanfront view! We have seen gorgeous bright colored rainbows, a few dolphin, and lots of tropical birds! You home is very inviting and we couldn’t help but be relaxed staying here! Thank you for sharing your home with us :)

Chas, Andrea, Josh & John - Glendale, California

June 2012

Yay! We are back! Thank you again! Here is what we did...

Day 1: We got here at two, searched for lizards and we weren’t disappointed because they are everywhere! Then my mom went and got sunscreen so we could snorkel. Then for dinner we had spaghetti. Day 2: We woke up, went for a run, met some people who have lived here for 50-60 years! And then went snorkeling, swimming, and boogie boarding the whole afternoon! Then we had Cholo’s for dinner. Yum! Day 3: The whole family worked out and then we went to Shark’s Cove...  The days went by so fast and I wish I could stay here longer! It’s wonderful! Thank You! - Ruby

Sam, Alicia, Ruby & Lily - Manhattan Beach, California

June 2012

Too short a time to write about all the wonderful things, but this is an amazing location!!!! Falling asleep to and waking up to the waves was great. A good tip to anyone out there, check out Ted’s Bakery for some amazing Chocolate Haupia Pie!! Can’t wait to come back one day!

Adam and Sarah, Phoenix, AZ

May - June 2012

Simply wonderful, home, location, experience... Hard to find words to truly convey our thoughts. Mahalo for having us here. Suffice to say a better form of “stress management” is not possible. Actually hope to return again and again, perhaps longer next time. A tip for some great food we found in Hauula - Papa Ole’s. Superb, authentic island food where the locals eat. You won’t be disappointed (taste, portion, price and service...awesome).

Warm regards, Mark, Karen, Jesse, Josh, Kristen and Holden

Great Falls, MT

May 2012

Sandra, we fell in love with Hale Moana and had the most wonderful time. Although we found much to do – the hike at Pupukea, visiting (every day) the turtles at Laniakea, massages from Julie at North Shore Massage (lomi lomi) and Stand Up Paddle (SUP) lessons (Charles) – our favorite activity involved the two lawn chairs right outside the door  : )  and a book from your great library. We can't thank you enough. Those will be treasured memories.

Sarah and Charles - Laramie, Wyoming

May 2012

We wanted to thank you for such a wonderful time! A special thank you for the wedding album, wine and coffee!  The house was beyond what we could of ever expected, and the panoramic view you can't even put into words! Our very first day there we saw a whale, and the sea turtles, and dolphins. The sea turtles came everyday and we even saw them while snorkeling. We loved the town, went to the art gallery a few times (and had some small things shipped home) we loved the coffee at the Coffee Gallery. Best of all everything for our wedding was completely  perfect! We even had a rainbow, and the whale made a brief appearance!  I can't wait to see our pictures!  The house truly is amazing we could not have gotten a better place to stay for our first time to Hawaii, we definitively will be back!

Thank you so so much!  Andrea and Ed - Winston Salem, North Carolina

May 2012

This was our 3rd stay on the North Shore and surely the most relaxing. The location & accommodations were superb. We may be coming back for a wedding next year (our youngest daughter who has lived here for 7 yrs) and will be in touch with you if all goes well. Thanks for the welcome goodies and we wish you Good Health and Happiness.

Aloha, Mahalo - George & Becky - Ormond Beach, FLorida

April 2012

We had a wonderful stay at your lovely home. It was just perfect! We will be back –

Debbie, Gary, Ryan & Caitlin - Orange, California

April 2012

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! This was our first trip to Oahu and we are so thankful we lucked out on our 1st try in finding your place! It’s a great home base to do many things. Some of our favorites were surfing lessons with Uncle Bryan, shark dive, shark’s cove, turtle beach - but we didn’t realize then that turtles also came to this beach! Kids - 4 adults too - LOVED the Polynesian Cultural Center - Never seen fire dancers like THAT! Huge highlight! But mostly loved coming back here after a big - or short - excursion to rest, play on private beach. It was truly a vacation! Could hardly read my book as the “show” outside, so mesmerizing! - Oh, we did enjoy beautiful windward side beaches, but stayed there 1st half of vacation. Loved this house for last part and experienced a whole new Oahu over here. Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Love, Dave & Jan & 4 kids from Salt Lake City, Utah

February - March 2012

Above all, your HALE MOANA and the 180° ocean view with the waves is fantastic!!! We enjoy it every day. Your house and garden have every thing we need. Many of your books and guides are very useful. We enjoyed every day at this wonderful place of the earth; waking up with ocean-view and the variety of the north shore. The “Hale Moana” has everything we needed. There is only one “disadvantage” - it is so far from Germany. Thank you for everything ~

Hans and Antje - Ludwigsfelde, Germany

January - February 2012

Thanks so much Sandi for sharing your little piece of paradise. The view is so breathtaking ~ loved sitting outside watching the sunset. Hale Moana had everything we needed as our base for exploring the North Shore ~ we were treated to 20 foot waves at Waimea Bay and enjoyed the competition at Pipeline. Isaac was so helpful - thanks! We don’t want to leave and hope to be back.

Aloha, Mahalo - Jacqui, Don, Kiah, Jed and Flynn - Newcastle, Australia

January 2012

We had a wonderful time enjoying this beautiful spot on the North Shore. The boys were in the water all day long. We explored different beaches every day. We managed to see most of the Island. Thanks again for all the extra little touches to make this truly feel like a home away from home. We will miss it.

Allen, Trudy, Nickolos, Sebastian & Simon - B.C. Canada

January 2012

Simply stunning! We have enjoyed this wonderful house in this amazing location so much. Sandi you have thought of everything. It must be the first time ever we have looked forward to climbing into bed with the wonderful sound of rolling waves. The weather was perfect with many surfers right out our windows and whales that came in close on Sunday. We would certainly love to come back.

Gabe & Sandy - Christchurch, New Zealand

January 2012

Thank you for the lovely stay at Hale Moana. We are leaving tomorrow morning. It was fantastic hearing the sea crashing on the shore...

We saw whales and a turtle swimming....

It is an amazing house with everything you would need for a comfortable stay.

From staying at Hale Moana we have decided to come to Hawaii every New Year.

Ulla, Ella, Taylor, Dallas, Drew

January 2012

It is difficult to express how absolutely perfect our week here has been and we will cherish our family time spent at the North Shore for years to come. Thank you for the wine and coffee (enjoyed by all) and allowing us to spend time here at Hale Moana.

December 2011

Well!! What a wonderful time we have had here at Hale Moana. It’s another world, Paradise! And it has gone by all too quickly. We have been all around the island and seen so many wonderful things, personal favourites were quad biking at the Kualoa Ranch and visiting the Byodo-in Temple, but we’ve seen so much it’s hard to choose, snorkeling (which we hadn’t done before) at Sharks Cove was absolutely amazing and on Christmas Day too! The weather has been good even for winter, a few showers here and there, but nothing to spoil our wonderful holiday. A big, big thank you for sharing your wonderful home.

Mahalo and Regards,

Pauline and Dennis - Stafford, England - xxx

December 2011

Unforgettable! The only word that comes to mind when thinking back over these past two weeks.  The entire island experience is one that must be lived - it defies description in mere words. There exists a lack of appropriate adjectives to describe it! Sandi and her “Hale Moana” (indeed a House of the Sea) provided the most perfect home away from home. She and Glenn, along with Isaac have made available everything the discerning vacationer could need in the way of amenities and service.

So put your watch away! Start living on Island Time! We live but once, this is not a dress rehearsal! Enjoy. Live life.

Mahalo nui loa

Aloha,

Don and Sandra, Sidney, British Columbia, Canada

December 2011

Thank you! We’ve traveled to Hawaii at least twenty times but I can now say we have truly found our Hawaiian home away from home. I don’t think we’ll ever stay anywhere else on the island. I am hoping you will have us back each year.

Aloha & Mahalo, Regan, Karl & Christopher - Huntington Beach, California

December 2011

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation! Thoroughly enjoyed your home and were able to see much of the whole island while here. We normally don’t return to any place we’ve been before and instead like to visit new places. However we fell in love with North Shore and your home, Hale Moana, and hope to return sometime in the future - maybe in 2013 when Christian is finished with Graduate School at Long Beach State.

Thank you so much! Diane, Steve & Christian - Fayetteville, Arkansas

Hope to get back soon, Dale, Holly & family - Talkeetna, Alaska

November 2011

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We had a wonderful time & "happy hour" watching the sunset was definitely a favorite time of day. You have thought of everything to make our stay so comfortable. I often found myself wondering "I wonder if there is any.....?" Sure enough if I opened a cupboard or drawer there it was.

Kind regards from "down under".

Angie, Mike, Meghan, & Brenton - Gold Coast, Australia

October 2011

Thank you for sharing your house with us. We loved the atmosphere that you can only get on the North Shore.

September 2011

This was one of the best vacations we ever took. I just want to tell you how very much we enjoyed your beach house. You are truly blessed to have this house and to live in Hawaii. Beautiful. Breathtaking. Majestic it is. We loved everything about the house, beach and island. Loved all the small towns and the beaches are perfect. Your house provided us a home away from our home. Very comfortable and relaxing. It was very hard to leave. This I do know, we shall return. I hope to rent it from you once again. I just want to tell you thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing such beauty to all. I also want to say thank you for the nice card, coffee and wine. That was such a warm welcoming!!!!!

Bless you! and Mahalo. Sylvia and Family - Riverside, CA

September 2011

We had a wonderful time in your beautiful home - magical sunsets, mesmerizing ocean views, and of course, adventures in snorkeling and boogie boarding. Thank you for your generous hospitality in making your home such a welcoming place for a memorable vacation.

Sincerely yours, Joe and Amy

It was a great place; me and my sister (Elizabeth) could always go out in the morning and Boogie Board. We could get to lots of beaches from your house. There was great snorkeling on the beach. It was so fun!

Yours sincerely, Emily, age 9

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us. We saw so much! Turtles in the water, putting their heads out, magical vibrant rainbows in the sky, and (perhaps) even a dolphin. This was an unforgettable experience & I thank you so much for making it so fantastic.

Aloha and Mahalo, Elizabeth, age 12 - Riemerling, Germany

July 2011

First of all, thank you very much for renting this lovely house to us.The view is incredible, sublime, too magical for words. Honestly I wish I could live here forever, but you know that isn’t going to happen. Anyhow, I also thoroughly enjoyed your vast collection of books and DVDs. Seriously, this home has everything necessary for a peaceful, quiet, dream-like getaway. Your house has also inspired me to sketch countless drawings - I’d been in a slump lately, a drawing slump that is. So thank you for absolutely everything. Oh yeah, your hand written notes on the fridge and around the house made me feel closer to home - a friendly human presence. They were a nice touch.

Thank you, Melanie, age 16

P.S. What a wonderful place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary! The scenery and sea turtles were awesome.

Vic and Debbie, Melanie’s Grandparents - Mission Hills, California

July 2011

Thank you for the wine and coffee. We enjoyed both. Nice touch.

We had a wonderful time here at Hale Moana.

We think your house is the best location, and we loved the big windows that opened up in the house. We had a great time and hope to come back soon.

Todd, Katy, Christian & Sarah - Scottsdale, Arizona

June 2011

Each year is amazing, and it hasn’t stopped being amazing.

Ruby (12 years old)

We come here every year (almost), it feels like home!

Every year we try to go somewhere else, but we come home to Hale Moana!

We are so grateful for your wonderful hospitality! We swam with the turtles all week. We rented a paddle board and went everywhere! We even got to see a monk seal sleeping here on the beach, a dragon wrasse (fish), a few eels, just wonderful and amazing. Our family time is so precious, and I am so glad we stay in your wonderful home.

Mahalo, Sam, Alicia, Ruby and Lily - Manhattan Beach, California

June 2011

Today we depart your home, and take with us so many Chautaugua’s (summer educational opportunities)...Turtles, surfers, clean water, light shows, swimming, surf, walks, crab hunting, beaches, and so much more...our children Lola Isabella (11) and Theresa-Marion (13) will remember this time for years to come...the hand of God’s splendor is truly all around us, here on this island...Mrs. T. never stopped learning from the moment she entered through the gate of your home...

Sandi, you and your staff are blessed and will be in our prayers to consistently bring joy and peace to so many...the north shore is one of our top places on earth to spend our time...we were here for a short stay six years past at Turtle Bay and God willing Mrs. T. and I will return...

Thank you and God Bless - Peter - Adkins, Texas

Thanks for letting us stay here. I got here 10 minutes ago. Its the best. I just love this place.

Love, Lola (age 11)

May 2011

When Mike and I got engaged and started talking about getting married in Hawaii, I immediately envisioned how I wanted our ceremony to be. I cannot express enough how absolutely perfect it turned out to be. The weather (no wind!), the sunset, and I can’t imagine a more perfect spot. We had the ceremony in the yard, then took photos on the beach.

From the moment we entered your gate, we were completely blown away. When we came in the door, I had to pinch myself. A BIG thank you for the special way you treated us, and of course for your beautiful Hale Moana!

Elaine & Mike - Lakewood, Colorado

May 2011

Words can not describe the feeling we had when we entered your home, from the beautiful landscaping as we stepped through the front gate, to the cozy and delightful living room to the breathtaking view! A dream come true!! We had a wonderful time and beautiful ceremony - thank you! The gifts & note when we arrived were so thoughtful & set the tone for a beautiful weekend. We hope to return to your home many more times & will share our experience with those looking for a wonderful vacation rental! Thank you so much - because of you & your lovely home we had a true vacation!

Sincerely, much love, Sophia & Jim - Honolulu

April 2011

Great weather, ocean was calm, saw a group of sea turtles out back yard. Didn’t come on shore but still close enough for pics. Went to Ted’s Bakery & bought a chocolate haupia pie... yum, yum. Loved the ‘poke’ too! Enjoyed the snorkeling at Shark’s Cove (tide pools) lots of small fish. Beat out Hanauma Bay hands down (busy, murky water, kept getting kicked in the head). Polynesian Cultural Center a must if you have a family.

Mahalo from Brad, Armella & family  - Calgary, Canada

April 2011

We had a great time here. The kids loved being right on the beach! Lots of swimming, walking & sun! We explored the island from one side to another!

Mary, Nicholas, Nina & Matt - Modesto, California

April 2011

As always, our home away from home, was perfect...

-the perfect break from a huge and looong California winter

-the perfect spot for playing in the sand and water

-the perfect family vacation

Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts - Jen, Phil & Cale - Larkspur, California

Wonderful, amazing house and location! Love your beach house that inspired our fabulous vacation, quite likely the best ever so far... Very cool house with lots of Aloha. Turtles, fish, lots of surfers, a hundred whales this visit waving & flapping & obviously also having a great time! Thanks Sandi!! :)

Laura, Bryan & Tyler - Bayfield, Colorado

March 2011

Wow! What an amazing place... beautiful views, wonderful whale & turtle watching. The surf was amazing and huge! The island was easy to get around, lots to do and good places to eat. Cholos in Hale’iwa is yummy Mexican food. Thanks for sharing this blessing with us. Let us know when you visit Wyoming and we’ll show you around ~ The Hawaii “50” Club from Wonderful Wyoming!

Ed & Tera, Pam, Tammie - Laramie, Wyoming

March 2011

We had an amazing girls week at your beautiful home - turtles on the sand, whales playing out front, surfers everywhere!! Just what we needed to get rejuvenated in spirit. Just wish we had more sun - only 1 1/2 days :(  The view and the sounds nearly made it a non-issue though. We will be back!!

Ann and Wendy - Spokane, WA; Lynn - Redmond, WA; Jordan - Phoenix, AZ

March 2011

This was a “girls trip”- just me and my two teenage daughters. The house was perfect! Falling asleep to the sound of the waves hitting the beach was amazing. We surfed, kayaked in Kailua with the turtles, and swam with dolphins. We will never forget our time here. Thank you so much for the use of your home. We will be back!

Kristi, Tawny & Kami - Gresham, Oregon

February 2011

What an amazing place you have. We have stayed in houses on the North Shore (Sunset Beach) and this was by far the best! Love all the turtles out front and everyone had success snorkeling by the shoal. The location is super and the beach beautiful. We will definitely return!

Cathi, Butch, Kerry and Simon - Anchorage, Alaska

February 2011

Perfect spot for a relaxing vacation! We had spent a few days in Waikiki before coming to the North Shore, and the change of scenery was amazing. While Waikiki is crowded and hectic, the North Shore (& Hale Moana in particular) was peaceful and quiet. The only sounds we hear are the occasional noisy car on the highway and the constant crashing of the waves which help us sleep so well at night. During the day, the house was the ideal base for our explorations of nearby areas. The shrimp trucks, Waimea, and Haleiwa are all so close by. We also got to try out many of the great restaurants (Luibuenos is highly recommended)! This was the vacation we had been dreaming of and we can’t wait to be back!

Roland, Jules and Amelia - San Francisco, California

January - February 2011

Wow! What a great week - Weather was perfect. We even had a visitor - a huge male turtle came ashore to bask about 2 PM and was still there at 10 PM but was gone in the morning. Lots of turtles poking their little heads out at the water (shoreline) + whale watching was perfect from the back yard. Food was really good at Teds. Many surfers this week. Never a dull moment :)

Debra, Kerry, Mark & Michelle - Yakima, Washington

January 2011

As always we don’t want to leave! The surf did not disappoint. Karsten was out usually 3 hrs. at a time. Got to see the Pipe Pro. Spent great days with the family. This is our home away from home. Mahalo! See you next year.

Colleen, Monique, John, Karsten, Aaron and Regan - Aliso Viejo, California

January 2011

Near perfect weather! Amazing views! HUGE surf the first 3 days, with some 20+ ft. waves @ Pipeline on Monday. Tuesday the waves were back down in the 6–10 ft. range – meaning we had constant entertainment of 20+ surfers in front of the house at all times!

The oatcakes from Starbucks are now on our “must have” list.  Thanks for our relaxing getaway…Back to our snow :(

Larry & Robin – New England

December 2010 – January 2011

Had a wonderful, relaxing visit to Hale Moana! Amazing location & view ~ the rain didn’t spoil the experience : ) Great place to spend the holidays.

Happy New Year! Mahalo! Peggy & Daryl – Seattle, WA

December 2010

Dec. 17 – Got home late, we just had gotten off the plane and drove out here. We had to take in all of the sounds because it was pitch black.

Dec. 18 – We woke up, after about 10 minutes of lounging we decided to swim in the ocean! Remember it was like 6 am. After we swam we went to Haleiwa Joes and Matsumoto’s Shave Ice, and it was DELICIOUS. We came back to Hale Moana. We had dinner at the Thai restaurant. I thought it was delicious.

Dec. 19 – Today we went to Pearl Harbor – we learned all about it. The only downside was the pouring rain, nonstop the whole time. It doesn’t matter though because we all bought matching ponchos. We went to the USS Arizona Memorial, and we also went to the USS Bowfin, the submarine. We had lunch at the burger place. For dinner we went to Cholo’s, the Mexican restaurant.

Dec. 20 – Today we went to the beach in the morning, and that was very fun.

Jake (11), Zack (14), Keri & Dan – Salt Lake City, UT

December 2010

We had a great time, got to watch Pipeline Masters, whales and sea turtles and great to wake up to ocean waves, now back to Michigan where it’s 20 degrees.

Thanks for sharing your little heaven!

Todd & Teresa – Adrian, MI
You are so lucky to have such a great location and views of the ocean. We saw whales, turtles and many other wonderful views. –  Gayle

December 2010

Thank you Sandi,

Our sons (4, 18 months) had the time of their lives. They climbed mountains, made sandcastles, played every day in the surf and woke to this amazing view. We feel very lucky to have had the chance to stay here in this amazing beach house. Thank you.

Jan & Ursula, Isaiah and Theo – Calgary, Canada

November - December 2010

One of the very few “true” beach homes still in existence. Unbelievable location.

Inspiring and breathtaking. I will return.

Thank you Sandi and Isaac,

Larry – Arroyo Grande, CA

November 2010

Sandi, This is our last morning at Hale Moana, and as always we hate to leave. This is our third year here and our vacations keep getting better & better. The house is beautiful. We always have such great memories when we leave. We went to Sea Life Park this year and swam with the dolphins! Amazing. We also spent many days at Waimea Bay. The surf competitions are always fun to watch too. Thank you for the use of your beautiful home.

Mahalo & Happy Thanksgiving – Katy, Nick, Hannah (10), Alexandra (7)

November 2010

Absolutely fantastic as usual – many visits over the last ten years. House always great – fantastic to have the wonderful space/views, fresh air and to play on rather than work on the ocean.

The surf was pumping mate!

Thanks, Andrew (yacht captain), Robbie, Jim, Paul, Ed – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

October 2010

Again…the week has passed in a “blink”. Always, it goes by too quickly. We loved the new “additions”…the outside shower (how did we ever get by without it) :) the new bedroom windows & those fabulous beach chairs. Thanks again for our home away from home.  It’s always been our favorite vacation spot :)

With love and aloha,

Jen, Phil, Sean & Cale – Larkspur, CA

October 2010

We had a wonderful time with our family. Everyday was a different adventure. We spent many days at Waimea Bay, and we loved just ‘hangin’ in the yard too!

Thank you,

Sky, Diane and family – Cardiff, CA

September 2010

It was our first time here in Hawaii and it was amazing! We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets, crystal blue ocean and luscious vegetation. Too many sights to mention! Thank you for such a comfortable home. We hope to return some day with our kids and grandkids.

Thanks so much,

Alex and Mary Kay – Houston, TX

August/September 2010

We all had such a wonderful time here at your home.  :) Thank you for being such wonderful hosts.

William and friends – San Francisco, CA

August 2010

Hale Moana is aptly named and provided our family with a balanced vacation and recovery from the hustle and bustle of visiting with friends and family in Honolulu. Thank you for making your home available. This is a very special place and painstakingly maintained. We loved the snorkeling, swimming, turtles, crab hunts and just gazing/listening to the ocean. I hope we can return one day and see the kids graduate from surfing Waikiki to Waimea!

Mahalo nui loa - Susan, Chuck, C.J. (9) and Genevieve (7) - Oakland, California

August 2010

We enjoyed staying in your beautiful home very much! The view is awesome! This made my 64th birthday very special. Thanks & Mahalo!

Margaret, Rosalie & Jim - Raymore, Maryland

July/August 2010

Your beautiful home was everything we could have wanted for our vacation. It was a relaxing and tranquil place to return. I can’t imagine why people would choose a hotel!! We loved the snorkeling and reef right outside and the beachfront yard was perfect for the kids. (We saw numerous sea turtles & spinner dolphins!) The location could not have been better since we spent nearly each morning at Waimea Bay, Pupukea or Three Tables. We spent the afternoons relaxing at the house and searching for more beautiful shells on the beach (we added a couple of uni shells to your collection. Thank you for the wine and coffee and for making your comfortable home available. We will surely return to Hale Moana.

Kevin, Trish, Chloe & Abby - San Francisco, California

July 2010

Hey I'm Kelli. I'm here with my mom, stepdad and step sister. My mom and stepdad remarried on the beach. It was nice. I've had a really nice time here. The house is lovely and it feels so home like. I el-oh-ve-ee it  : )  Only a few more days left and then I'll be returning home. I can honestly say I'll miss it.

Kelli - 15 yrs. - California - p.s. Kelli loves Rebecca!    ; D

I'm Rebecca! I've been here for about a week now. This place blows my mind! Being here for two weeks is amazing! Thank you for having me stay here. I'm so fortunate! - Rebecca

What a time of being refreshed. Many thanks to the R's for inviting us and also for letting me conduct their wedding right on the beach. This time here has reminded me how great life is and what a beautiful place God has provided for our enjoyment.

Enjoy life to the fullest! - Debra & Joseph

Sandi, This was our second trip here and the views, sunsets and being on the beach is still just breathtaking. It was awesome meeting you and sharing our vow renewal with you on the beach. What a dream come true for Mike and me.  Our two teenage daughters' also really enjoyed staying here with walks on the beach everyday, sitting with a turtle on the beach, and swimming with the turtles was a real treat for all of us. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us, making our first family vacation extremely amazing from start to finish. We look forward to yet another trip back to this most wonderful little spot on the North Shore.

Thank you again, Much love - Mike, Sheri, Kelli & Rebecca - Alta Loma, California

July 2010

What a wonderful house you have. This was the final stop on our 25th Wedding Anniversary trip from Scotland. We certainly saved the best for last, and when we tell you that the first part of our trip included crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Mary 2 you will understand how highly we valued our time here.

We were very fortunate to see and photograph a turtle right outside the house on our 2nd day. We even spotted some white tip reef sharks, which gave us pause for thought on our snorkeling activities!  Many thanks for the coffee, tea and wine, it was much appreciated.  While we would love to come back, it is an awfully long trip from Scotland! We will recommend the house and location to any friends who are thinking of a trip to Hawaii.

Mahalo, Alistair & Della - Alexandria, Scotland, UK

June 2010

We have enjoyed our stay so much. We were here for our daughter's high school graduation, and we have had a wonderful vacation. It is so relaxing here, and it is so nice to be away from all the crowds in Honolulu. Both my daughters took surfing lessons and had a great time catching waves.  We enjoyed seeing many turtles in the water - a little disappointed none came on shore! We snorkeled and even did a Segway tour at Turtle Bay - very fun. Your home was immaculate and we appreciated the wine & coffee. We had a very special vacation!

Mahalo, John, Suellen, Jen and Katie - Robinson, Texas

June 2010

This house is the best house I have ever been to in Hawaii! I like the pullout bed with the t.v. I like the view from the bedrooms. I like that the beach is the back yard! Love - Kristin (age 6).

P.S. I saw a turtle bigger than me.

Our family had a wonderful vacation at Hale Moana. We had many adventures. We hiked to the top of Diamond Head Crater, went & swam in Waimea Falls, saw 13 turtles @ our beach backyard :)

snorkeled @ sharks cove, and got shave ice a couple times. We lived our vacation to the fullest. We did
nearly everything! We also used flashlights to look for geckos @ night. It was very fun here! We hope to come here again next summer!

David, Sherene, Jeanine, Kristin and Lindsay - San Jose, California

May/June 2010

This house was a perfect ending to a wonderful vacation to Hawaii. We started our trip in Waikiki, and ended at the beautiful house! Coming to Hale Moana is just what we needed to get away from the hustle, bustle of Waikiki. The view is picture-perfect, the house was immaculate & Sandi was a pleasure to work with! We saw a sea turtle on the beach and several swimming in the water right in front of the house!! The waves were big and we watched the surfers! We will be back next year, hopefully make this a yearly ritual! Now it’s back to reality, and time to sort thru the 1,000+ photos that were taken! Mahalo!!!

Julie - San Diego, CA, Leah - Upstate, NY, Lauren - San Francisco, CA,

John - Albany, NY & Peter -Middletown, RI

May 2010

We had a wonderful time in your home and will treasure our memories of your little piece of beach heaven forever! Everything we needed was provided, even the wonderful boogie boards! Thanks for the coffee and wine, that was very thoughtful. We just may call again in a few years for another stay! What great memories we will have in our hearts for your beautiful place and our time spent there.

As they say, Mahalo!

Brooke, Rod, Jake, Abby, Nathan - Loveland, Colorado

May 2010

For being the first time here it was wonderful, peaceful. My daughter loved the ocean and sand. Wonderful seeing sea turtles.

What a wonderful place to safely introduce our 2 yr. old to the ocean - she loved it!! And the nice safe grass yard was a plus for relaxing. I especially liked the separate TV room as some of us are TV watchers and others are readers. Thanks for the surfboard - my husband caught some waves at the beginning of the week.

Margaret, Dick, Chris, Trish & Emma - Parker, Colorado

May 2010

Thank you for such a wonderful stay. Turtles on the beach our 2nd day! You know you are on vacation when you don’t know what day it is! A perfect place for our 25th anniversary!

Larry & Bernie - Foresthill, California

May 2010

We had a wonderful vacation staying at Hale Moana. The views are amazing. The peacefulness of the North Shore was welcomed after our trips to Honolulu. We loved visiting Haleiwa right up the road. During one of our walks down the beach we even got to see a turtle sun bathing. Your house really felt like home this week and we hope to return.

Megan & Bernard - Louisville, Kentucky

April /May 2010

I like the house and on the last day I had coffee from the coffee machine. It was yummy. - by Lauren.  I like the TV room. I watched a movie called Napoleon Dynamite. I loved it. On the last day I went swimming. - by Jessica. What a great week! Must admit, we were a bit nervous sending our rental fees from pictures we’ve seen on the internet, but it was worth it. I don’t think I’ll ever want to do an all-inclusive resort again. This is the way to spend your holidays. House is very well equipped with lots of big cozy towels. Happy we were able to find the house in daylight, wouldn’t have wanted to do it in the dark. Thank you so much!

Jennifer, Colin, Gisele, Lauren, Jessica - Surrey, BC, Canada

April 2010

Our stay was WONDERFUL! Our only disappointment is that it was too short. The house is beautiful and the amenities exceptional. We can’t wait to return.

Nancy, Gerry, Alex & Laura - Dallas, Texas

April 2010

This was our second stay at Hale Moana and we loved it just as much this time. We brought our friends, Gene and Donna, with us as they wanted to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. They were absolutely thrilled with the view and they loved the house too.  Hale Moana truly feels like a “home” thanks to all the special touches. Sandi, you are a joy to work with. Mahalo for another wonderful vacation in paradise. We hope to return again.

P.S. - The rainbows and sunsets were gorgeous! We also loved whale watching and turtle watching. Thanks for your gifts and beautiful cards.

Mike & Becky - Riverside, CA

March/April 2010

Hale Moana - Our home on the North Shore. Thank you for a beautiful location for our spring break vacation 2010! The four of us truly enjoyed the surf, walks in the sand, our 2 backyard honus & as always, the Grass Skirt Grill & Kua Aina. Sandi, you have a treasure of a hale. Thank you for all of the thoughtful amenities.

Mahalo, Mark, Lisa, Brandon & Nick - San Diego Natives - North Shore Wanderers

March 2010

Well, tomorrow we return back to reality. W
e have enjoyed excellent weather all week with today the only “rain day” spent shopping in Haleiwa. Sea turtles and a seal “beached” themselves for a day of photos, along with whale sightings all week. My wife and 3 daughters have “run” almost every morning into town (≈ 6 miles r/t) to start the days. Sunning and boogie boarding at Waimea Bay and snorkeling at Hanauma Bay were great.  Spent a day in Waikiki but the crowds were too much after experiencing the North Shore. We have been to almost all the islands before and around the world but we all agree, this is our favorite spot to be! We will be back! Thanks!

Bill, Tammy, Stacey, Meghan & Madelynn - Lake Oswego, Oregon

March 2010

It is a rare occurrence when the actual experience surpasses the expectation.  We were very impressed by the beautiful photos of Hale Moana. The actual experience of being here is so much more. The beautiful home and the beach setting are simply wonderful. This has been a truly special family holiday at a very special place. Thank you for sharing your home Sandi. This will always be a time that we all will remember. Our best anniversary ever!

Brian & Linda - Coquitlam, BC, Canada

February/March 2010

I’ve dreamed of a vacation in a beautiful home by the sea (ocean) but never thought it could happen. Thanks to you, Sandi, and my son, Aaron, who called this my retirement gift! Wow! It has been a wonderful time in Hale Moana. Your home is so comfortable with books, games, even coffee and wine! Thank you for those! We enjoyed the full moon our first night here, saw a “full” rainbow two different days, observed a sea turtle at the crossing, plus much more. From the first cup of Kona to the setting of the sun, your back yard and your beautiful home have been enjoyed by the three of us.

Now back to Kansas City, MO and Fargo, ND, but all our memories will be packed along with us. I hope we return to your Hale Moana someday.

Aloha & Mahalo, Mary, Aaron & Bryan - Kansas City, MO & Fargo, ND

February 2010

Wow! What a perfect home from which to enjoy the absolute best of Hawaii.

The visual image of this section of Hawaii's shoreline is imprinted in my memory banks.

The homelike amenities here are the best.  I truly relaxed here, felt refreshed and at peace, everything a true "vacation" should include.

I will definitely return and plan to tell everyone I know about your vacation home.

Tia from Laramie, Wyoming

February 2010

It rained a lot today.  I think this is good news for the islands.  We had fun nonetheless, cruising around.  Yesterday we investigated Turtle Bay Resort & Banzai Pipeline.  Avoiding crowds is our aim, and this house is great for accomplishing this goal.  The tidepools are great.

We will miss Hale Moana but this was a quick one:  We knew it would be.  Very homey here, hope we'll get back before too long.  Aloha, Mahalo!  D., N., & L.

January 2010

Hi Sandi.  Emily our 6 year old beat me to the guest book (opp. page) but I wanted to pen a few words anyway. Our week here has been very special...  We've grown attached to your welcoming home and to the atmosphere and way of life on the beautiful North Shore.

Andrew was up at the crack of dawn each morning because the waves have been massive every day but two at Waimea and Pipeline, so he his been snapping away with the camera every morning and emailing photos to all his jealous mates back in Oz.  Even the kids and I have made it to the Pipeline 3 mornings for early breakfast on the beach!

The whole family I know will have such fond memories of our stay in your home.  Thanks for the wine, coffee and welcoming card, and especially thank you for allowing us to arrive early...  we were so tired and Mummy, Daddy and the 4 little people were pretty emotional!  We hope to return to your little haven again one day.  Thank you, regards, Susan, Andrew, Emily, Sam, Alice & Grace  -   Sydney, Australia

December 2009 - January 2010

What a great place you have!  The view is magnificent and the house is very comfortable.  What a way to spend our vacation.  On our third day we saw a whale directly in front of the house.  We watched him breach all the way down the coastline.  That was great!

Hiked Diamond Head Crater.  A magnificent view at the top up a fairly hard hike getting to the top.  Rough uneven terrain and no breeze until the top.  Go no later than 9 AM.

This is our last day here and we are just lazing around enjoying the serenity of it all.  Will definitely recommend your place to anyone and everyone.  We hope to come back one day, after visiting the other islands first. Thanks for your 'home away from home'.

Craig, Mary and the B...,  Ringgold, GA

December 2009

Merry X-mas!  Thank you so much for allowing our family to stay in your home.  Thanks for the wine & the coffee.  It was great since we came in @ 2 AM.  You house was very homey & comfortable & we enjoyed the scenery immensely!  Hopefully we will come back again.

Jody and the  S... Family

December 2009

Sandi, thanks for all the comforts of home from Nancy, David & Liza from Novato.

Arrived this afternoon, did the Foodland thing then BBQ'd Chicken.  This place has a lovely feel to it.  We also did a return to Matsumoto's after a 6 year hiatus.  We are looking forward to a nice relaxing week.  It is easy to see why Phil & Jenny have been here what? 17 times?

December 2009

Had 50+ ft. waves.  “The Eddie” was on...  Thousands walked to viewing areas...  sat in sun.  Here we sat in all the comforts and watched the waves and surfers. Fabulous! Did have one jet ski tumble in the surf - spilling two young men.  Both got to shore - one had been thrown about on the rocks - able to walk away..  What a wonderful time we had - Thanks Sandi for allowing us to rent your home.

Another beautiful visit to Hale Moana. It is so relaxing here and the view is incredible. We had a great time body surfing (Chun’s and Waimea) watching the surf competition in Haleiwa and exploring. This is our second trip here, and the whole family loves it. Thank you for having us to your beautiful house. We can’t wait to come again.

Nick, Katy, Hannah & Alex – Granite Bay, California

November 2009

This was the 1st time in Hawaii for us. We enjoyed our stay here, it was very homey.  The beach front was breath taking. I would definitely come back again. My son Eric surprised me with this trip, it was a dream come true.

Thank you.  Eric, BrisAnne, Julie & Richard – Corona, California

Sandi, your place is AMAZING!  It was my first time out here and the location & comfort made the trip!  Thank you.  I can’t express in words how wonderful it’s been. - BrisAnne

October/November 2009

Simply extraordinary.  A view unlike any other and an exceptionally comfortable and well thought through home with so many lovely touches.  It’s been a treat.

Thank you, Vicky, Tom, Lyla and Mack – Seoul, South Korea

October 2009

Aloha – On October 18th – We woke up, as we looked out, to a symphony of surfers – wow what a show - & thereafter almost every morning!!  The North Shore is the forgotten or real Hawai’i.  We loved the shrimp trucks – we had lunch there almost every day.

Mahalo, John & Linda – Long Beach, California

October 2009

What a way to spend a week!  What a house and what a view!  A few things I think anyone staying here should do – go to Sunset Beach and stop by the Pipeline to see the 20 foot waves with surfers on them.  Wow! Keep going past Turtle Bay and look for the shrimp farms, pull in and get a shrimp plate, Wow! The best shrimp I ever had. Go to the Waimea Valley Audubon Center, walk to the end to see the falls, bring your swimsuit and jump in! In Haleiwa go to Jamesons, the fish is fresh and really good and don’t forget to try the shaved ice! We hope to come back next year.

Thank you!   Vicky & Ricki – Long Beach, California   -   P.S. Relax!

October 2009

Every year we stay here:

    - The garage gets easier to get into!

    - The chocolate haupia pie from Ted’s gets tastier!

    - The waves get better!

    - We see more surf stars than we did before!  (Sunny Garcia, Gavin Beschen, Tamayo Perry, Kalani Robb, Bethany Hamilton, Barton Lynch, Ace Cool aka Alec Cook)

    - The beach in front is more beautiful!

But most of all, the Hale Moana feels more and more like our home away from home!

Mahalo & Aloha, - Vicki, Chris, Theo, Nicholas - Santa Cruz, California

October 2009

Aloha!  Our stay here was great.  The first day we went to our close friend’s wedding and to our beautiful backyard beach.  We found shells and sea glass which we used to make jewelry.  The third day we went down to Pearl Harbor.  It was so amazing.  It was the last day you could see the Missouri battleship (before 3 months of overhaul in dry-dock).  My kids loved it.  A couple times we went to go get shaved ice at Aoki’s.  Theirs is the best.  It was so creamy.  I suggest it the most.

Mahalo - Peter, Carol, Olivia, Nolan - Chandler, Arizona

September-October 2009

Aloha!
The hula girl is a dedication to this wonderful place, very fun for an 11 year old.  The hula girl I drew was for the amazing sunsets and beautiful beaches and plants.   She’s the amazing home you have here.  I loved everything, especially the wave sounds at night.  Loved the stay and Mahalo!  Aimee, Alexis, Sirina & Jaime - Oakdale, California

August-September 2009

Aloha!  Enjoyed our stay at Hale Moana and Hawaii.  Both are going to be hard to leave.  We will miss sitting out under the palms, watching the sunsets.  Our dream of Hawaii come true.  Hope we can come back someday.

Mahalo, Ken, Alan, Alex, June - Manchester, England

August 2009

Aloha & Mahalo!  Thank you so much for letting us stay at your house!  We had a great time exploring the ocean and trying new things.  It was fun to explore all of Shark’s Cove’s depths and see many varieties of fish and sealife.  We also got to come upon a sea turtle!  We had a great time watching people try to body board on Sandy Beach (Break Neck Beach), there were huge waves even for summer!  Our family also had a wonderful time trying new restaurants in the town of Hale’iwa.  One of the best things we did was to just sit on the beach and relax.

Thanks from Kurt, Karen, Lily & Henry - Portland, Oregon

July 2009

Hale Moana never disappoints!  Thank you, again, for letting us enjoy your beautiful home.  We practically spent every day in the water - Chuns, Waikiki, Bowls & experienced great swells for summer.  The rest of the time was spent lazing about, enjoying the views, running around Honolulu and Eating! (Rainbow Drive-In, Leonard’s, Taco Bell!)  As you can tell, we’ve pretty choice - deprived in Dubai :)

Aloha and Mahalo! - Erin, Dylan, Richard, Vivid - Dubai, UAE

July 2009

A fantastic vacation!  A Hawaiian Safari!  The first morning at Waimea Bay was filled with great snorkeling, rock jumping, our 1st turtle sighting and dolphins in the Bay!  Wow! Portends of a great trip.  So what could be better than that?  Multiple turtle sightings in the water outside the house.  Stand up paddling.  Huge Ocean sunsets and then...  Our first close encounter with a huge green sea turtle resting on the beach!  What an awesome experience!  What could be better?!  Turtle #2 and turtle #3.  Pictures to follow.  What magnificent animals!  We feel so blessed!  Thank you lord!  North Shore rocks!

Mahalo! - Felicia, Roger, Kyle, Garrett - Napa, CA

June 2009

It was a blast! The first day we got here we had to take in all the sights.  The next day we looked at all the tide pools and went snorkeling.  After that we did the same routine everyday.  In the morning we would go see tide pools.  Then went snorkeling to see turtles and fish.  After we would eat breakfast and drive to Waimea Bay. The whole family would stay there for an hour or two then go home and eat lunch.  After a good lunch we would go get Matsumoto’s shaved ice.  Then come back here and relax.  Either read a book or play a game.  Dinner was great!  We would either go to Cholo’s or have dinner here.  This is our 3rd year here and every year has been exciting and great!

Mahalo and Aloha.  Hope to come here next year!

Ruby, Lily, Sam, and Alicia – Manhattan Beach, CA

June 2009

Thank you so much for sharing your beach house with us.  It really made our honeymoon even more special.  It’s difficult to fit everything we wanted to do in one week, but I think we did a good job.  We walked through the botanical gardens to Waimea Falls (so beautiful!), went to Haleiwa to the shops and of course for some Matsumoto’s Famous Shave Ice (so good!).  We went to Kualoa Ranch for the movie tour, checked out Chinaman’s Hat, visited the Byodo-In Temple and Pali Lookout, went to the Paradise Cove Luau, and went shopping at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet.  One of our favorite things was snorkeling at Shark’s Cove and in the backyard ocean.  Sharks Cove has to be the best snorkeling we have ever experienced!  This was such a relaxing and perfect honeymoon.  We couldn’t ask for a better place to stay.  We can’t wait to come back for our next Hawaii vacation.  Thank you so much for everything Sandi!  We loved the wine and card you left us, and the coffee was great too!

Mahalo!  James and Jessica – Concord, CA

June 2009

What a wonderful 10 day vacation!  We can’t believe it’s time to go.  Staying in a beach house on the North Shore is the way to go!!  Here’s what we did (pretty much on a daily basis): wake up early, run/walk on the beach, eat, snorkel, bodysurf, read, nap, swim, jump off rocks at Waimea Bay, get shave ice at the store in Haleiwa, get iced coffee at Coffee Gallery, enjoy live music at Art…is (recommend this highly!), grocery shop at Foodland.  Amazingly, we did not watch much TV at all (yay!), and we left the laptop at home, so our time here was fantastically “lo-tech” and it was great to spend so much time together without interruption!  Thanks for making your home so inviting and relaxing.  We are refreshed!

Aloha,     Bill, Christine, Eric and Mark – Menlo Park, CA

P.S.  On Friday, a pod of dolphins (at least 20 with BABIES!) spent the day swimming in Waimea Bay – Eric got to swim with them, heard them chattering, and saw them look at him curiously- he was no more than 5 feet from them! WOW!

May 2009 - Aloha!

Monday

Woke at 7:00 a.m. at Park Shore in Waikiki.  Climbed Diamond Head in A.M. – amazing view.  Took Tantalus Loop into Pu’u Ualaka’a Park – wow!  Arrived here (Hale Moana) and enjoyed beautiful view for the night. 80-s and sunny and slight winds.

Tuesday

Big breakfast and out snorkeling down the street by 8 a.m. Beat the crowd and saw four turtles.  Germaine’s at night.  Good show.  Good food. Good drinks. Good night.

Wednesday

Kona coffee is awesome!  Pearl Harbor at 8 a.m, USS Bowfish, USS Arizona, and “Mighty Mo” (best). Groceries at Pearl City, evening snorkel right in front!  Saw an Octopus! 80’s and overcast.

Thursday

Out kayaking at Kailua Bay by ten, small waves, enjoyed hiking and snorkeling the islands.  A rainy afternoon, clear evening, relaxing night – opah, shrimp, pacifico, euchre.

Friday

Last full day here unfortunately.  Snorkeled Shark’s Cove – very nice, shark cage at noon where we saw a dozen sharks!  Relaxed at Hale Moana from then on.  Overcast and 80’s.

Hale Moana served us with much needed rest and relaxation, not to mention the beach sunsets and the sound of the waves crashing every night.  Mahalo for the great week – coffee and wine included

Aloha and Mahalo,

Mark, Phillip, Leslie and Gregory – Rochester, New York

May 2009

We are so fortunate to have such perfect weather & even some waves (at least to us Californians!).  Roman surfed with Sunset Suratt Surf School & had a blast - I did stand up paddling in the Bay - some wonderful aloha spirit - I am taking home a very fragrant Puakinikini lei - that is sweetest smell ever!  Don’t miss the Farmer’s market Sunday & the Thai restaurant in town is fabulous - We look forward to our next stay at Hale Moana.

Rachel & Roman - Long Beach, California

May 2009

We were invited to spend the week with our long time friends at your lovely home.  The views here are amazing and magical.  We fell asleep each night listening to the waves of the ocean after busy sightseeing days.  We visited beautiful gardens with our friends and had wonderful meals at your various restaurants.  Phyllis and I shopped for our grandchildren and reminisced about the many trips we have taken over the years.  This by far is at the top of that list.  Thank you for sharing.

Denny & Marti - Illinois

May 2009

We have had a wonderful & unforgettable visit.  Hale Moana is so tranquil and beautiful.  We visited many of Oahu’s historical sites, walked through botanical gardens, and enjoyed shopping for presents for our grandchildren.  Bill went fishing and I rested on the lanai overlooking the sea.  I have dozens of beautiful photos to share with family & friends.  The sunsets here are amazing!  Thank you for introducing us to IZ.  I have a CD of his music to remind me of the Islands.  Today, we finally saw the sea turtles and whales breaching in the sea.  A first for both of us.

Aloha & Mahalo, Bill & Phyllis - Beaumont, Texas

April 2009

Aloha & Mahalo!  Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful beach house with us.  We had the most wonderful time & hate to leave, it’s snowing back home in Alberta, Canada - eek!  Our first morning here we watched 3 whales breeching- traveling along the coast at 6:15 AM then didn’t see them again until today when one came out to wave goodbye.  So neat!  My girls loved playing in the surf, snorkeling & walking along the beach - I loved watching the honu surf the waves!  The weather has been great, the view spectacular and the sunsets are to die for gorgeous.  We loved shopping in Haleiwa, the girls love Aoki’s shave ice & burgers at Kua Aina.  Mahalo for the wine & coffee, and Iz to listen to!  We hope to return soon, this has been a wonderful trip!

Aloha, Tony, Lia, Melanie & Emily - Springbrook, Alberta, Canada

April 2009

As always our visits to Hale Moana leave us rested and relaxed.  The weather has been lovely... not too hot and the surf perfect...  Two swells came in while we were here :)  We count our blessings every morning we wake here.

Mahalo, Me Ke Aloha Pau’ole (until the next time)  Jen, Phil, Sean & Cole - Larkspur, California

April 2009

WOW!  Sunday - Up at 6:30 AM enjoying your lovely coffee and watching whales breach from your front deck.  Our 2 boys smiled & cheered.  Monday - Snorkeled at Hanauma Bay.  Very nice, but it does not compare to the peace and beauty of this cottage on the water.  Tuesday - Watched several whales migrating north between 6:15-6:30 AM.  Some were breaching far in the distance.  Visited Pearl Harbor & toured the Arizona, Bowfin & Missouri.  The guided tour of the Missouri was so worth the coinage.  Saw four rainbows today.  Wednesday - From your front deck, spotted whales at 6:15 AM.  Spent time today on your beach body surfing & went 2 miles north on Kam Hwy to the tidal pool for snorkeling.  Saw lots of whales from the tide pool.  Almost forgot... spotted & took pics of a sea turtle 100 yards north of your cottage on the beach.  Thursday - Hiked Diamond Head in the AM.  Our boys surfed near Waikiki.  It rained lightly & the winds made it very cold.  None the less, we are grateful to be here & enjoy all Hawaii offers.  Friday - Another off-n-on rainy day.  Visited quaint shops in Hale’iwa and grabbed a taste of Matsumoto’s shaved ice.  Watched turtles swimming in front of your cottage.  We have enjoyed the Iz cd all week.  I will definitely be purchasing one.  Saturday - We leave for Ohio today.  God has blessed our time here many times over.

Mahalo, Rusty, Tracy, Clark & Hayden - Springboro, Ohio

April 2009

Aloha.  My two sons, Alex and Jeremy, and I absolutely adored staying at your home on the North Shore.  We did everything and anything, including snorkeling, surfing, shark caging, fishing, eating shave ice, shopping at the local market, eating at Lei Lei’s in Turtle Bay and just hanging out.  I hope everyone has the same experience that we had and we will definitely be back.

Mahalo, Ron, Alex & Jeremy - Traverse City, Michigan

March 2009

The pure joy of walking into your home looking out the huge expanse of windows and seeing the ocean in all of its beauty, just makes each moment here magnificent.  We have so enjoyed watching the whales and turtles, swimming, snorkeling and playing cards in front of the open doors.  Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home, can’t wait to come back again.

Jim & Donna - Helena, Montana

February 2009

What a beautiful view from the house.  We enjoyed our stay.  The weather was warm compared to home (Oregon).  Although the locals were complaining as to how cold they were. : )  The guys golfed.  Marilyn and Dale saw the sights from their bikes.  Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Michael, Marilyn, Dale, et al... - Gresham, Oregon

February 2009

Another year has gone by. I thought that I’d report on the 7’8” Spray Hawaii surfboard in the garage again.  I had fun on it.  Rode it all week...   I think the board still has some life left in it... I did get lots of waves on it in all sorts of conditions.  6’- 8’ Alligators was probably the best.  The board and I made some long rights after quick take-offs.  When it got down to 2’- 3’ at Rightovers (right out front), the board was fun too.  Can’t wait ‘til next year. - Karsten

Even us non-surfers have had a great trip again this year;  relaxing watching the turtles and snorkeling in our “own” backyard!  See you in 2010!

Colleen, Aaron, Karsten, Nicole, Brian & Vivian – Aliso Viejo, CA & Newport, RI

January 2009

Aloha.  Such a fabulous home at the beach.  Sun, surf and blue skies were ours to enjoy during our visit.  (It did rain briefly a few days.)  This being our 8th visit to the islands and our 4th on Oahu – we didn’t do any of the usual tourist places......  Even played golf at Kahuku Golf Course!  Huli chickens on Saturdays – Opal’s Thai Food – Haleiwa Cafe – Waialua bakery for goodies and sandwiches.  All are wonderful.  We also drove to Mililani Town (1/2 hr) to Assaggio Restaurant for dinner – well worth the drive.  It is just as good as their other locations on the island.  We leave the island again knowing we shall return in a year.  Mahalo,

Dana & Linda – Plymouth, MA

December 2008/January 2009

Shopped at Foodland right up the road – good clean and well stocked super market.  Relaxed, enjoyed and watched the surf.  A little sight seeing, but could not find a good reason to leave the house except to walk the beach and enjoy our wonderful new “beach retreat”.  Our other is Cape Cod!  Happy New Year!

Nancy & Jerry -  Woodland Hills, CA

December 2008

What a peaceful, beautiful place to spend Christmas. Morning walks on the beach where we found a turtle slapping its way back to the surf. Nesting albatross at Ka'ena dunes. Red-vented bulbul in the front yard which I called in mimicking it's song the best I could without a syrinx. Mesmerized by the pounding surf with the windows pulled open, or down below with our feet in the water. Mahalo,

John, Christine, Brett and Stela - San Francisco, CA

December 2008

What a beautiful place you have. This ranks as one of my best Hawaii trips ever. Spectacular accommodations, unbelievable 8 days straight of great surf and probably the best weather on Oahu this entire week! Aloha and Thanks. I can't wait to book a trip here with my family - they will love it. Randy

Thank you for inviting us into this lovely paradise! We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. I felt we were staying in a friend's home! Thank you so much! Patrick

It was everything and more I told my friends it would be. I love your home, it's location and the great waves. This was the best surf vacation, maybe ever. We'll be back if you'll have us. Thanks again.

Steve - Yorba Linda, CA

December 2008

Time to say Aloha! We are leaving today with memories we will have for a lifetime, the house and views were awesome, we have many beautiful pictures from your yard, the Triple Crown at Pipeline was phenomenal to say the least. We frequent the islands often and will return again hopefully to your home next year for the Pipeline Masters. Aloha & Mahalo!

Joan, Pam and Mike - Orange County, CA

December 2008

Wow! This is exactly what a beach house should be like - and more! We had a fantastic stay and were fortunate enough to enjoy good weather, great surfing & spectating great surfers too. We would love to come back one day & will recommend to everyone. This has been a true highlight of our 2 month holiday with our children. Thank you,

Andy, Kate, Bonnie & Mach - Freshwater, Australia

November 2008

Your request to make notes in this journal to "tell us how we can enhance your stay" will go unfulfilled - it was perfect here! We have been here with our 5 & 8 year old girls and they have asked 100 times if we can come here every year. The house is so warm, comfortable, convenient & fun. It's hard to leave the view, the beach & the vibe. Mahalo,

Nick, Katy, Hannah (8) & Alex (5) - Sacramento, CA Mahalo for letting us stay - Alex

November 2008

Our visit to Hale Moana followed a week in Honolulu at the Sweet Adelines International Competition at which my chorus (Melodeers of Northbrook, IL) triumphed, winning our 5th gold medal with a record breaking high score!! What a fabulous way to celebrate my birthday. :) We felt at home immediately, enjoying a world-class view, comfortable beds and a "cook's kitchen". We ate several dinners "at home" under the sunset, but we also enjoyed dining at Duke's in Honolulu and at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We spent one day driving the perimeter of the island enjoying La'ie Point, the hike up to the top of Makapu'u Head and beach hopping along the way. The blowholes along the SE coast were all going full blast, and we saw a sea turtle at La'ie Point -none@home :( There is so much to see and do here, but mostly we enjoyed gazing at the ocean, surf and surfers - an ever-changing scene. We wish it could go on forever. Sleeping to the sound of the surf - what a treat! Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo! We hope to return some day soon.

Geoff & Katie - Libertyville, IL

November 2008

Aloha, we've been blessed with summer like conditions most of this past week, good swimming and snorkeling and, of course, good beginner surfing conditions. However, a strong N.W swell yesterday brought double overhead conditions for the Xcel Pro finals at Sunset. Those guys are awesome. We've managed to roam the island from Honolulu to Waianae (where we snorkeled with spinner dolphins and saw bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, and even an early humpback whale. We also went to the windward side to Laie for the Polynesian Cultural Center. Much great eating out, but our best dinner by far was here at Hale Moana when we cooked on the BBQ and pulled the dining table over to where the sliding glass doors open for an ocean-front sunset dinner. This was the perfect setting for my wife's birthday present. Thanks so much for making it available. Much Mahalo!

John, Shannon & Lindsay - Boise, Idaho

October 2008

As always... such a pleasure to be here again. It is our home hale away from home. We had a lovely week snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding, swimming, eating in all our favorite places.

Mekealoha Pumehana, Phil, Jen, Sean & Cali - Larkspur, CA

October 2008

Thank you so much for allowing us to spend our 25th Wedding Anniversary in your beautiful home. This was a dream come true for us. The waves were fun to watch and the surfing was great. We had such a relaxing time - just what we needed. It was special to us that our youngest son was able to come with us. Thanks again and may God bless you and your family.

John, Susie & Jim - Puyallup, WA

October 2008

Between the combined 846 pictures taken by the two avid photographers in our foursome and the many beautiful memories we made at Hale Moana, we take a piece of Hawaii back with us to Texas. You have created a wonderful vacation paradise for all who are so lucky - as we were - to find your property. The views of the ocean, the waves, the sunsets and listening 24/7 to the pounding of the water make it so difficult to leave. Thank you for a wonderful way to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversaries.

Kathleen & John, Margaret & Gerry - Houston, TX

Sept/Oct 2008

Thank you for sharing your (Hale Moana) with us. The beach is beautiful & the sunsets were awesome. We saw turtles in the water from your deck. The privacy of the beach was also very enjoyable. Hope to return again someday soon.

Bruce, Lisa, Mike, Linda, John & Sandy - Stevensville, Montana

September 2008

We have had a wonderful time here (our 1st visit to Hawaii) and we are regretting that our stay couldn't be longer! It has been fantastic watching the surfers, listening to the ocean and walking on the beach - we didn't have to travel far! The four of us just wished that our families could have been with us to enjoy this 'special place'. We will take home lots of memories. Thank you for helping to make this such a memorable time!

Lynne - Leeds - Yorkshire, England

Aug/Sept 2008

We love this place, the open sliding doors are the icing on the cake. No five star resort can hold a candle to this darling house, great beach access and fabulous views. We feel so fortunate to have found this rental and couldn't ask for more. We will certainly tell all of our friends.

Vicki & Dennis - Poway, CA

August 2008

We had a really great time. This house is so beautiful and we will have many fond memories of our vacation here!

Thank you, Lisa and Mike - Cambridge, MA

August 2008

I enjoyed my stay here very much. We did not want to leave. The beach house was wonderful. We did not miss a thing. It is the 4th time I've been in Hawaii, but the first time on the North Shore, Beautiful place. Wish to come back again.

Thank you, Irma

It was so lovely to come back home to the islands. So very enjoyable to have the wonderful tranquility and peacefulness of the ocean. Thank you so much for offering your home to us.

Mahalo, Alexis and Boyce, Austin, TX

July 2008

Your home is absolutely paradise found! It truly exceeded every expectation. We have been to Hawaii many times but have always gone to Maui - this was first visit to North Shore, but will not be the last. The people here are friendly and low key and the beaches beautiful. We explored different beaches but it was always a delight to return home to this peaceful uncrowded spot. Thank you for providing every amenity - from coffee & Wine, many towels, detergent, beach chairs, etc. I will be back for sure! And the huge library was a real treat, and the many guide books very helpful - along with the internet, beach toys, etc. Thank you!

Daryl and family, Las Vegas

July 2008

This was the first time my fiancee was able to make the full experience of your house with us. She was absolutely amazed that she saw a seal considering they are her fav's. Next time we will be at your house we will be married! Thanks again, Jason & Kelly,

Love turtle watching and turtle things at Aloha Flea Market! Don enjoyed "shelling" and the new puzzle! Thanks so much! Love,

Claudia & Don, Scottsdale, AZ

July 2008

It has been an amazing trip... as usual! I feel as though your beautiful home is like our second home! This was a first for the family to see seals getting sun on the beach, and two stingrays playing in the water. I really like the new stairs because it makes it that much closer to Chun’s Reef for surfing! : ) Whenever we think of a vacation this is the one and only place in our minds and in our hearts! It was sweet of you to leave us the wine & coffee!

Shea - Scottsdale, AZ

July 2008

We are so sad to leave your little slice of paradise. The sand has come back some and we loved our walks on the beach. The view from the front bedroom is the best in the world. I am a travel agent and I would recommend your house to my clients! Have a great 4th of July and Mahalo!

Patty, Ken, Chris and Kellie - Chicago, IL

June 2008

Our second trip was even more amazing! We absolutely did nothing but enjoy the "Aloha". The girls snorkeled and found a beautiful turtle (honu) in her resting spot. Every day we check on her and she's always there resting so the girls decided to call her "Sandi" after you. Of course we'll be back, that goes without saying. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. See you next year.

Sam, Alicia, Ruby & Lily - Manhattan Beach, CA

June 2008

We have had an amazing week here! My mind is flooded with so many things to share. Your island home is so beautiful including all the amenities. Thanks to Jim and Kathy for having everything ready for us. The fresh air and unending ocean view will never be forgotten. This was our 4th trip to Hawaii and our 3rd to Oahu. We've never stayed in a house here, and I must say that you have ruined me! This is HAWAIIAN STYLE!! I actually got to rest some! We will remember watching the "honu" sunning and the birds. We did some great snorkeling too. It's all been great, thank you again, our youngest son (18) had a graduation gift he'll never forget! Mahalo,

Gary, Andrea, Ryan, Jordan - Kirston, North Carolina

June 2008

Thank you for your hospitality, the coffee (a great flavour) and the wine. We have enjoyed our stay and are very glad that we have experienced the beautiful North Shore. The house is in a great spot and we loved your lush green grass. We sat and watched the turtles feed and play in the rocks in front of the house; we loved Waimea Bay (get there early for a car spot) and enjoyed eating in Haleiwa at Jameson's, Chollo's and Haleiwa Joe's. We also enjoyed a glass of wine while watching the beautiful sunsets from the front lawn. We ate lunch at Ted's Bakery and strolled around Turtle Island resort. We didn't get to see Waimea Falls due to the lack of rain. We are pleased that we chose Hale Moana for a relaxing holiday and a great way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Thanks again,

Kerry & Rodger - Melbourne, Australia

May/June 2008

We booked this vacation eight months in advance and despite all our expectations, it exceeded them all. Accommodations were excellent, right down to the thousand piece jigsaw puzzle Sherri put together. We felt right at home immediately and didn't need anything except food. Our first night, we were amazed at the beauty and sound of the ocean. We were thrilled to see turtles swimming just offshore only to learn that they were with us the entire time, sometimes numbering a dozen or more, feeding at the rocks and playing at high tide. One turtle spent several hours on the beach and allowed us some pictures before he decided to rejoin his friends in the ocean. The beach is so private that we felt it was our own. We saw a full rainbow, a school of at least 30 dolphins swimming by and some of the most beautiful sunsets ever. We gathered some beautiful shells to take home. At night, the really big crabs come out. We watched them from the backyard through the binoculars, scurrying about and jousting with each other. There wasn't much reason to leave the house with its charm, beautiful beach and great accommodations. We barbecued most of the time and enjoyed every minute. The town of Haleiwa is so charming. We spent two days walking the streets and enjoying the shops, art galleries and boutiques. We feel like this was the most perfect place to stay. We spent a day in Honolulu. We feel sorry for those who spend a lot more staying in Honolulu and don't get to experience the charm, warmth and serenity of the North Shore. We're sad to be writing of our stay as it comes to an end, but we definitely want to return. Our memories of the beautiful place will last forever!

Mike & Sherri - Alta Loma, CA

May 2008

Words cannot express how much we enjoyed the house, beach, views, turtles, coffee & wine. All we can say is thank you, thank you, thank you! It has been everything we hoped for and more. We usually vacation at Myrtle Beach in houses where you have to pack up everything - towels, linens, etc. You have thought of everything! We do hope to return in the future.

Again - many thanks - Ralph & Diane - Rice, Virginia

April 2008

Peace and serenity - just what we needed. It's amazing how relaxing it is to fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves. Loved watching the surfers, but unfortunately no sign of the turtles - perhaps they took off for a vacation. We did see whales - jumping and spouting, and also lots of birds. Looking forward to returning for Christmas.

Thank you - Christine & John - San Francisco, CA

April 2008

Lovely, lovely, lovely! If there's a more relaxing place on earth... don't tell me! I'll collapse into a coma! Thanks for the hospitality. Mahalo,

Deke, Katy, Gar, Mary - San Francisco, CA

March 2008

Mahalo Sandi & Glenn for sharing your house with us. We loved every aspect of it from its view, to its size, to its cleanliness, to its location and to its amenities. We have put your house at the top of our list for a place to stay while on Oahu.

Some highlights of our week were seeing a "rare" monk seal sunning itself, all of one day , on the beach, seeing a huge turtle also sunning itself and watching the whales frolic in the ocean just beyond the surfers. We, also, snorkeled and watched some 10 foot waves that brought the surfers (40+) out. Walking along the beach is so much more enjoyable than walking back home on the neighborhood streets. Our weather was perfect and as always we enjoyed eating at the various places in Hale'iwa especially Kua Aina.

The surf here is great! I got countless good waves. The only thing on the north shore as good as the surf is this house! (and Ted's bakery) Our new plan is to come every October and March. My mom loves the funboard in the garage. It's also really fun to jump off the brick wall.

Theo, (Chris & Vicky +) - Santa Cruz, CA

February 2008

While Karsten surfed the rest of us enjoyed the views and all the comforts of home from our beautiful beach house. Aaron (2-1/2) loved playing in the yard, running on the beach, building sand castles and seeing the turtles. We will be back next year!

February 2008

Just thought that I would report on the 7'8" "Spray Hawaii" fun board that I found in the garage. Don't let the duct tape fool you. This board works just fine. I had a number of good sessions on it. It did a good job catching waves in 4'-6' (Hawaiian scale) surf at Leftovers & Rightovers (the break just out front and to the right). I also went as far as to take it out in 6'-8', 10' glassy Puanea Point. That old board can still zip down and across a racy righhand face, even that size. You have to work for your turns with the single skeg, but all -in-all, it's a fun wave catcher!

February 2008

Our stay at your vacation rental was wonderful! The 1st part of the week was a bit rainy but we ventured towards Waikiki for sunny weather. We enjoyed riding the swells, basking in the sun and our kids had a great time swimming, digging for crabs and building sand castles. There is so much to do and see. Matsumoto's shaved ice was great, and we enjoyed Jamisons by the Sea. Thanks so much for everything, you have a wonderful place here!!

December 2007

What a fantastic North Shore Home . Our week was so relaxing and peaceful. Having a fully stocked home with everything we could need was a treat. The weather was perfect, the waves and the surf competition were at its best. All and all you provided us with a home away from home, only in paradise. Thank you for being so hospitable. We would love to return next year. Mahalo

December 2007

What a wonderful beach house! Thank you for the "week" in Hawaii, we will never forget. Even though we endured a bad storm and power outage, Sandi, Glenn, Jim and Cathy cared enough to make sure we had ice, charcoal and lots of candles, they showed welcomed concern about our well-being. Our son went surfing 2 days, we drove around and ate at some great local restaurants. Saw some geckos and sand crabs, no sea turtles, maybe next time. Mahalo and Mele Kalikimaka!

November 2007

This has been an AWESOME vacation for us. We brought my parents for their 44th wedding anniversary to their first Hawaiian trip. The water, waves, and surfers amazed us each day. Thank you for sharing your home with us. The many small touches like coffee, wine, and internet access just made our stay too perfect! The Bar-B-Q grill was great for relaxed dinners outside by the waves and sunset. We just love this house - we're spoiled and can never stay in Waikiki again. Mahalo

We had an absolutely FANTASTIC stay at your house. It's not often that reality is better than a website but that was truly the case. Just great, truly paradise! It was worth the 15 hours in the air to spend time at Hale Moana.

October 2007

Thank you sooo much for sharing your amazing paradise with us. We will never forget our Hawaiian vacation. The week went by so quickly and we are definitely planning on returning. We had a great time at the Hale Moana, the kids and I logged a lot of hours at Chun's Reef, as well as Hanauma Bay, Waimea Bay, and wherever we saw water. I loved staying on the North Shore, the locals were way cool, loved Cholo's for dinner and Rosie's for breakfast. We cooked and BBQ'd at the house a few times also. We took in the sights, but Chun's Reef and Hale Moana were the best! Thanks again for opening your home to us, it was perfect!

This has been a very memorable holiday for us! It has been a joy to stay here after a 24 hr plane journey and 2 nights in Waikiki. We particularly enjoyed the well equipped kitchen and the comfortable beds - the general ambience and of course the incredible views and sunsets. The sound of the ocean has us in a permanent meditative state! Thank you for the wine and coffee and for sharing your beautiful house with us - we will be back!

Kindest Regards, Clive, Hazel and Sian - Perth, Western Australia

August 2007

Of the other friends and family on the island for our son's wedding, we have decided our accommodations were by far the absolute best! We enjoyed relaxing in the yard with the beautiful view and strolling on the uncrowded beach spotting sea turtles, dolphin and a manta ray. Your home is so well stocked we felt very much at home. What a beautiful place! Mahalo!

July 2007

Seeing rainbows, sea turtles and beautiful sunsets with excellent snorkeling every single day was amazing. It was much more relaxing & enjoyable than staying in Honolulu... hearing the crashing surf as the back drop. We look forward to staying again in this paradise along one of the most beautiful stretches of beach anywhere.

Mahalo, the H.& A. families - Rancho Cucamonga, CA

July 2007

Wow, what a wonderful place! We truly had the time of our lives. The children played in the great yard. We went tide pooling everyday, and swimming with the turtles! The sunsets were amazing!

July 2007

Mahalo! This was the PERFECT place to spend our Ohana vacation! Your home had everything we needed to make our stay completely comfortable. Seeing all the turtles right out the backyard was incredible. We even saw a pod of dolphins swim by doing jumps & flips out of the water. Oh and Sharks Cove is the place to snorkel! Thank you again for sharing your home with us... we will be coming back.

Rich, Laura, Jessica, Tim & Melissa, Concord, CA

June 2007

Oh my...... all I can say is we'll be back! My girls learned to snorkel on this beach, play w/ turtles & tidepools, fall in love w/ the ocean while listening to IZ. Thank you so much for such a great house w/ such wonderful hospitality. I hope we come back soon! Mahalo.

June 2007

Your home was the perfect honeymoon spot! Snorkeled in the reef to the right plus @ Sharks Cove (the best)! Did a lot of the tourist things and plenty of relaxing time just watching the turtles, waves & sunsets. Bar-B-Q was a plus!! Perfect place for romantic dinners and just "US". Thank you for making this wonderful place available.

May 2007

We truly enjoyed our stay here at this heavenly paradise. We don't have to tell you the wonderful things we got to experience because you know them well. We do thank you especially for your hospitality and for making our place so "easy" to have fun and be comfortable in. We got to be together as long time friends and share special memorable moments together here.

May 2007

Thank you for sharing your beautiful beach home with us for the past week. We have had a truly memorable experience. We have stayed in several rentals and this one by far is the best when it comes to location and how well the home is kept and stocked. We have done quite a bit this week and have really enjoyed our vacation without our 5 children this time because we were able to go at our own pace. We would love to bring them back here again someday though. We saw turtles daily, usually in the mid-afternoon, I saw a whale with the binoculars, breeching and enjoyed snorkeling and seeing some fish off to the right over by the outlet. It is really a little piece of Heaven here!

Brent and Joyce -- American Fork, Utah

April 2007

As always, it's been a perfect week. The ocean waves were perfect, the turtles abundant and the whales more active than I've ever seen in April. We have so many fond memories of Hale Moana. We've watched our boys grow up right here on this beautiful beach. We're looking forward to many many more moments like these.

April 2007

This place is rad. I like to wake up and pull into a solid overhead green room and then pull out and surf the inside at Chuns. It's super. I'm just big hairy american tube riding machine. I boost 3 foot airs like nobody's business and then grab a bit of ??? at the house. Sincerely, Tony

April 2007

Fantastic, relaxing, rejuvenating after a hard 6 months at sea. The setup and facilities are 2nd to none. Always a pleasure. Surf fantastic.

Cheers, Andrew and Edward -- Honolulu

March 2007

Huge surf the day we arrived, snorkeling seas and turtles the day we left. We love the 180° view of the wonderful ocean and sky....rainbows, sunsets and the incredible sea. We spent a lot of time here revisiting old haunts (Waipahu, hometown) and trying to find the best local food. The library was a treat for the big reader in the family and her husband watched the ocean for hours. A wonderful 9 days - thank you and aloha! .

Melanie and Benett --Raleigh, NC

March 2007

We feel so grateful for being able to stay here- the house has more room than we could have ever needed, and the surf was fantastic for the first 5 days of the trip. It got a bit stormy towards the end, which was actually good as it let our scraped knees and paddled-out shoulders rest a bit! It also gave us a chance to cruise around -- watched Pipeline, hiked to Kaena Point, saw the heiau above Foodland, went to Waimea Falls, played in the shorebreak (!) at Waimea Bay. So much to see here on the North Shore - and good places to eat too! Ted's Chocolate Haupia Pie is THE BEST! We got lots of enjoyment out of your fantastic library - our boys especially liked the books about Africa. Hopefully the surf cleans up for last day, but nevertheless we had a fantastic vacation and look forward to coming back within the year. Mahalo!

Vicki, Chris, Theo, & Nicky -- Santa Cruz, Calif.

Mahalo, what a wonderful home to have a vacation. From 36° below 0° in Montana to 80°. Nice. Our daughter Nancy and her husband Mark had their first vacation in Hawaii with us here. We had a Great time and will tell all our friends about this wonderful home. Thank you.

This place should be in your library book "1000 Places to Visit Before You Die". ....... Mahalo! Thank you for making your beautiful home and it's location available to us. We enjoyed every moment with our friends - the waves. As we enjoyed everything about Oahu, we compared it to our house in Marathon, Florida Keys. Truly a wonderful experience. Thank you for your hospitality..

Patty and Bob -- Marathon, Florida

January 2007

Mahalo! This was an amazing experience... mostly due to this wonderful location. My boyfriend and his family were here for 18 days and had the most incredible time. I was here for 5 days and just fell in love with the whole North Shore. Thank you for all you provided in your home. The views are spectacular ... everything was perfect!.
